Cruisers again!
This page quickly outlines our plans for the next year or so. As of December 15th 2007, we are officially cruisers again. We left the dock at Bayswater Marina and have started cruising again. This is a quick summary of what we think our plans are -- knowing of course -- that cruiser plans can change on a whim.
If you want to see a summary of where we have been, check out the Past summary page.
For the detail of all our past trips, you will find all the the detail logs here.
The following describes what we may do for the next couple of years unless of course, we change our minds.
December 2007 to March 2007
Cruise North Island New Zealand northeastern coastal waters
May 2008 to November 2008
Up to the islands (Fiji, New Caledonia or Vanuatu)
Around May 2008, we will look for a window to sail up to Fiji and probably spend most of the cruising season in Fiji. The agenda will be to swim, snorkel, dive, kayak, sail, fish, socialize, meet Fijians, drink kava, explore; rinse; repeat.
Our current thinking is that we will end up in Australia in November of 2008. On the way, we will stop off in New Caledonia and possibly Vanuatu (Survivor's Ready!?! GO!) on the way to Australia.
November 2008 to January 2009
End up in Australia.
We hope to cruise a bit of Australia's east coast with Whisper south of the cyclone prone areas. Exploring a tiny bit of the vast Australia by land is also on the agenda. Oh, a dive trip to the Great Barrier Reef is also a priority.
Beyond January 2009
Back to Work
Around February 2009, we will want to be working again. We can either return to New Zealand to work, stay in Australia longer -- possibly working, or return to the Silicon Valley for several years -- wrapping-up this phase of our cruising life. Who knows? We will keep you posted once we decide. Of course, if 10,000 people worldwide each donate a five dollars through this website, we could keep cruising for another couple of years! We could continue to act as your "leisure correspondents" in the field.
The most likely scenario for 2009 is a return to work in the U.S. Although we enjoyed the work-life-balance and "lifestyle" in New Zealand, we miss the energy of the Silicon Valley. There are lots of decisions to make in 2009, but luckily -- we now have lots of time to figure them out!
