This section describes our quest for a boat and the boat we selected. We considered starting with smaller boats, building our skills and progressing through one or two smaller boats before acquiring our "ideal cruising boat" (yes, we know there is no such thing), but decided to just cut to the chase.

We rationalized that by picking our "end game" boat first, equipping it, and getting familiar with it from a systems and sailing perspective would be the most economical and fastest-path to the goal -- having a cruising boat, and being ready to go cruising.

In other words, this was our first boat. Our insurance company did like the fact that we had years of prior sailing experience, ASA credentials, and a decent chartering resume prior to the purchase.
